Keller’s spirit gave hope to the disabled

And, I must say, I have never felt more “American” than I did last Wednesday when I sat among some 400 guests in the rotunda of the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. It was on this occasion that the Congress of the United States dedicated the statue of Helen Keller and placed it among other great Americans who have made extraordinary contributions to our great country. I was invited by the sponsors of the event to represent the Alabama State Senate as a part of the official Alabama delegation.
